University Magazine Major Aspires for Job in Peru


Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, 21-year-old Michelle Bennett moved to Flowery Branch, Georgia, at the age of 8 when her dad’s job was transferred.

Bennett began her college career at Gainesville State University, where she served as the features editor for the school newspaper, The Compass. While there,
she won third place in best features article for two-year schools in Georgia.

Bennett later transferred to the University of Georgia to pursue a degree in magazines. She plans to minor in speech communication.

Having already traveled as far as the Philippines and Guatemala, Bennett hopes to someday pursue a career in travel journalism.

“I am aspiring to delve into my interest in travel journalism by pursuing a copywriting position in Peru,” says Bennett.

Bennett currently enjoys going out with friends, spending time hiking and running, writing for the Red and Black and volunteering her time by training her guide dog, Irish.
